Skripsi ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental.
Berdasarkan analisis data dengan menggunakan program SPSS menyatakan bahwa penggunaan media permainan ular tangga untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris (Speaking Skill) berhasil.
Based on the research findings there were some strategies used by the teacher to overcome the students difficulties in reading descriptive text. They are : (1)Using pictures, (2)Drilling method, (3)Peer teaching, (4)Searching words, and (5)Collective guiding.
Based on the findings, the researcher suggested to English teacher that they should apply some media in teaching English, because it will support learning process. The picture with keywords can be used as the alternative media in teaching the descriptive text material.

The findings on the analysis of the text showed that there are 274 errors that occur in the students composition and finds out that the causes of errors are interlingual transfer and intralingual transfer.
From the observation on the teaching and learning process of English at SD Negeri Paguyangan 1, it could be concluded that the most of the students did not get enough English achievement, although the teacher was qualified.
