Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan kritis. Metode yang digunakan yaitu semiotika. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis tanda dan analisis interaktif model Miles dan Huberman. Objek penelitian berupa film The Teacher's Diary karya Ningsanon dan Sopana Chaoviwatkol.
Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui keefektifan pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran Guided Discovery dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik.
